SAFETY ALERT8/31/07

Dear Residents,

It has come to our attention that there have been several different rumors and stories floating around about a reported attempted child abduction that occurred last week.  Most of the emails we have seen are fairly accurate according to the report but there apparently has been some confusion as to the number of occurrences because of these rumors and mis-reporting of the actual date of the incident by members of the media.

The Flower Mound Police Department would like everyone to know that at this time there was only one incident on August 22, 2007 in the 2700 block of Halsey Drive. No other attempted child abductions have been reported to the Flower Mound Police Department.

The Flower Mound Police Department is still requesting that anyone with any information related to this report contact us at 972.539.0525 or you may remain anonymous by calling our crime tip line at 972.874.3307.   We also encourage everyone to keep an eye out and report suspicious activity.

Our Patrol Officers are diligently looking out for the suspect involved along with any other suspicious individuals in our neighborhoods and welcomes any information that could lead to them.

Information from our detectives along with detectives of other local police departments has revealed the possibility of a group of burglars that may have begun targeting homes in the Flower Mound area.  There have been several burglaries or attempts that have occurred in our area spread across the town over the last month with similar details.

Most of the incidents have occurred during the middle of the day.  The suspects in these cases have been described as thin black males in their 20’s wearing polo-style shirts and blue jeans.  They may be posing as workers for some company or they may actually work for a company and happen to be committing crimes on the side.  The suspect vehicles have been described as a white van or a black pickup truck with no business decals or specific markings.

If anyone observes anything suspicious please contact 911 immediately or if anyone has information regarding the incidents that have occurred please contact Detective Walker at 972-874-3346 or Detective Ryckeley at 972-874-3337.

SAFETY ALERT5/16/07

To all Flower Mound residents,

We recently had a report of a green Ford F150 occupied by two or more Hispanic males driving around the neighborhoods acting very suspicious. They were scared away once after looking into an open garage in the Sweetwater area. The license plate is Texas 34K-NZ3 and it may be towing a trailer. If you encounter this vehicle and/or the subjects please keep a close eye on them and if they are doing anything that looks suspicious call 911. Please do not confront them on your own.

Thank you,
